Endesa has restored the electricity supply in Llançà, Colera, Portbou, and Peralada after an incident on a medium-voltage line that left 13,000 customers in l'Alt Empordà without power around six in the morning. The company informed Protecció Civil at 2:30 PM that all affected customers had regained service.
The breakdown lasted for a good part of the day and still left about 4,400 customers without supply at 1:30 PM in Colera, Llançà, and Portbou. Hours after that assessment, moreover, a fire in a transformer in Llançà affected the network again by damaging three electrical lines in the area.
The incident left 4,400 customers without power until early afternoon
The outage began around six in the morning due to an incident on a medium-voltage line that spread to four more areas. The initial impact affected 13,000 customers in several municipalities in l'Alt Empordà.
Well into the afternoon, Endesa informed Protecció Civil that service had been restored in Llançà, Colera, Portbou, and Peralada. Before that communication, the last available assessment placed 4,400 subscribers still without electricity at 1:30 PM.
A transformer caught fire on Dolors Falcó street and damaged three lines
While the electrical disruptions continued, the alert for a fire in a transformer came around 8:45 AM on Dolors Falcó street in Llançà. The device began to burn and generated dense smoke in the vicinity of several buildings.
The Bombers de la Generalitat (Generalitat Firefighters) arrived at the scene, extinguished the fire, and ventilated the affected area. The transformer fire damaged three electrical lines and caused new supply interruptions in the surrounding area.
The last hourly report on the incident indicated that Colera, Llançà, and Portbou had about 4,400 customers still without supply at 1:30 PM.
