The Costa Brava is experiencing these last days of Holy Week with a strong influx of visitors in streets, promenades and terraces of several municipalities, in a context marked by spring weather and rising temperatures. The atmosphere has also been noticeable in different points of the Girona coast, where some visitors have taken advantage of the sun and mild temperatures to go to the beach.
The change began to consolidate this Friday, with a rise in thermometers in a good part of Catalonia. In the regions of Girona, that increase has been perceived with more intensity in the inland areas than in the coastal strip, although also on the coast the atmosphere has been clearly milder than on previous days.
Highs close to 25 degrees in Girona
The records show high values for this time of year. In Girona, temperatures have neared 25 degrees, while in Castell d'Aro it has reached 23.5 degrees. This scenario has favored a fully spring-like image on the Costa Brava, with more movement in public spaces and a greater presence of people outdoors.
In Barcelona, this Friday temperatures already touched 20 degrees. This Saturday, observatories have registered highs of 21 degrees, within an upward trend that will also be noticeable during Sunday.
The forecast maintains the mild weather during the weekend
For this Sunday, clear skies and mild temperatures are expected, with a new thermal rebound compared to previous days. The forecast indicates that the heat will continue to be more pronounced in inland towns than on the coast, a pattern that has already been repeated in the Girona regions during this start of the long weekend.
Ahead of the end of Holy Week, the continuity of good weather is maintained and a generalized rise in temperatures. The predicted values will remain above the usual for these dates in a good part of the country.
High values also in other points of Spain
The situation is not limited to Catalonia. This Saturday there are Spanish provinces that will reach highs of between 24 and 27 degrees, with high readings for the season. For Sunday it is expected that these mild temperatures will continue in a large part of Spain.
In large areas of the peninsular northeast, as well as in the Levante, the Northern Plateau and especially in the southwest quadrant, values will remain high for these dates. In that sector of the peninsular southwest, even 30 degrees could be exceeded at specific points. In the Costa Brava, meanwhile, the weekend balance points to a final stretch of Holy Week with crowded beaches, full terraces and a full spring atmosphere.
