Esterri d'Àneu reports to the Mossos the poisoning of 12 cats and 4 dogs after finding toxic food on the street. The town council asks to confine pets while they analyze the poison and search for those responsible.

The Esterri d'Àneu town hall has reported to the Mossos d'Esquadra the poisoning of at least 12 cats between Friday afternoon and yesterday. Four dogs have also been affected, and two of them are in very serious condition.

The town hall located feed and pieces of chicken with poison in strategic points and public roads of the municipality.

Pere Ticó took the case to Mossos and Agents Rurals after finding poisoned feed

The alarm spread through the town after the municipal brigade cleaned the spots where the poisoned food appeared.

"We have reported the facts and also informed the Rural Agents of what happened with the stray cats and some dogs" - Pere Ticó, mayor of Esterri d'Àneu, Ajuntament d'Esterri d'Àneu

The Rural Agents collected samples of the feed to analyze the substance, which appears to be rat poison.

The mayor published a municipal decree to warn the citizens and asked that pets not go out into the street until the situation was controlled.

Residents of the municipality expressed concern for the safety of their animals and for the food scraps found on public roads.

The city council will clean the affected areas while seeking to create feline colonies

Pere Ticó stated that it will be very difficult to find the culprit, although the city council will do everything possible.

The council is working on the creation of feline colonies and on efficient management of these animals.

Many neighbors have pets and fear going out on the street as long as remains with poison keep appearing.

The investigation is now in the hands of the Mossos d'Esquadra and the Agents Rurals, who are analyzing the samples collected in Esterri d'Àneu.
