The State Meteorological Agency has activated warnings for rain and storms in Barcelona, Girona, and Lleida.
The alerts combine yellow and orange levels due to the arrival of instability that will affect a large part of Catalan territory during the coming days. The adverse weather situation will also extend to other areas of the peninsula with different intensity depending on the region.
Storms will gain intensity this weekend
Rubén del Campo, spokesperson for Aemet, has pointed out that atmospheric instability will increase as the hours go by. Showers and thunderstorms will extend to large areas of the territory during Saturday and Sunday.

Rain of a stormy nature is expected from midday in the mountainous areas of the north and east of the peninsula. The snowline will drop to 1,200 meters in the Pyrenees, which could leave the highest peaks white.
Friday will maintain unsettled weather with rains in the northern half that will advance towards the east during the afternoon. This dynamic will mark the beginning of a progressive change in the usual meteorological pattern for these dates.
The thermometer will drop several degrees on Sunday
The maximum temperatures this Thursday remain mild with values close to 25 degrees in the central and southern peninsular regions. The Cantabrian region will register slightly lower figures, around 23 degrees in coastal areas.
On Saturday, a generalized thermal descent will begin, which will continue until Sunday. Bilbao will see the mercury stand around 25 degrees, while Murcia and Palma will maintain similar readings in their urban areas.
Madrid and Huelva will experience a more notable drop with highs around 20 degrees. This cooling will mean a contrast with the values recorded during the first half of the week in these inland and southwest locations.
The probability and intensity of precipitation will be lower in the southeastern peninsula during Saturday. The rest of the Spanish geography, including the Balearic archipelago, will face rainy days with different virulence depending on the orographic exposure.
