A cable theft and a breakdown altered the R2 Nord and the R11. The notices cited 30-minute delays, but travelers suffered waits of more than an hour. The situation is driving a free campaign for the R11.

Rodalies' circulation registered incidents again on Tuesday morning due to cable theft between Cardedeu and Granollers Centre and an infrastructure breakdown between Figueres and Llançà. The problems affected lines R2 Nord and R11 and caused delays on several trains heading to Barcelona.

The difference between official information and passenger experience was evident from the start. While Rodalies, Renfe, and Adif accounts reported delays of over thirty minutes, users of the network reported waiting times exceeding an hour on the corridor.

Renfe registered delays of up to 82 minutes on the R2 Nord

Renfe's real-time tracking system showed delays of 82, 61, 47, and 54 minutes on R2 Nord trains heading to Barcelona. The disruption was concentrated in the Vallès Oriental section between Cardedeu and Granollers Centre, one of the points affected by the cable theft.

In addition to the problem on the R2 Nord, circulation was also affected on the R11 due to an infrastructure failure between Figueres and Llançà. The combination of both incidents disrupted service during a time that is already sensitive for early morning commutes.

The R11 forced stop changes between Granollers Centre and Sant Celoni

The reorganization of the service forced R11 regional trains to stop at all stations between Granollers Centre and Maçanet Massanes. Medium-distance or semi-direct trains had to do the same between Granollers Centre and Sant Celoni.

This operational adjustment is in addition to previous incidents on the R11, a line that has accumulated frequent problems since it fully resumed service after the Gelida accident in mid-February.

In recent days, passenger dissatisfaction has also extended beyond the stations. The user platform Ja n'hi ha prou launched a petition on change.org last weekend to demand that the line be free until the incidents are resolved.

The platform's petition was launched last weekend and calls for the R11 to be free until the breakdowns and service disruptions stop recurring.
