Palafrugell will celebrate the 64th edition of the Spring Festivals between May 23 and June 8, 2026, with a program that concentrates cultural, popular, and festive events in various parts of the municipality. The central moment will arrive on Sunday, June 7, at 5:30 PM with the 64th Carrousel Costa Brava, Carnival of Carnivals.
The main focus of this edition is to bring the festival to different spaces in the town beyond the grand parade, with activities spread over more than two weeks. The program combines traditional events, open days at cultural facilities, and new initiatives such as the first Desenvelat night in the parking lot of the Josep Pla i Arbonès Municipal Stadium.
The Carrousel Costa Brava will return on June 7 at 5:30 PM
The main parade of the Spring Festivals has once again been presented as the core of the program. The 64th Carrousel Costa Brava, Carnival of Carnivals, is declared a Traditional Festive Element of National Interest and will once again occupy the center of the celebration on Sunday afternoon, June 7.
This event will also feature an innovation in its broadcast, as Ràdio Palafrugell and Televisió Costa Brava will carry out a joint audiovisual broadcast. The organization of the festivals falls to the Palafrugell City Council, Els Trompats, and the Association of Spring Festival Groups, with support from the Diputació de Girona and the Generalitat de Catalunya.
The council emphasizes that the 2026 edition maintains the commitment to bring the festival back to the people and strengthen the bond between groups, entities, commerce, culture, and citizens.
The inauguration will start on May 23 and the proclamation will arrive on the 29th
The official opening will be held on Saturday, May 23, with a gathering of pubilles and queens at the Fundació Cuixart and a presentation dinner at La Bòbila. A week later, on Friday, May 29, the Gardens of Can Bech will host the proclamation.
Ramon Plaja and Maria Plaja will be in charge of opening this event, which will be followed by a popular dinner and a performance by Miquel del Roig. The next day, Saturday the 30th, the program will include the Josep Pla literary vermouth, a cart parade, and an open day at the float groups' warehouse.
On Sunday, May 31, the program will move to various spaces with the Marxa de la Garoina, activities in Plaça de l'Ermengarda, and the Oohx!gen Fashion Show in the sports pavilion.
The final stretch adds children's parade, mud bath, and a new night of the Desenvelat
The last week will concentrate some of the most participatory events. On Thursday, June 4, the children's parade from the nursery schools will depart from Plaça Nova, while on Friday, June 5, the Jardins de Can Bech will host La fanguejada.
On Saturday, June 6, there will be multiple activities throughout the day. Among them is the first night of the Desenvelat in the parking lot of the Estadi Municipal Josep Pla i Arbonès, included in the final stretch before the Carrousel.
Throughout the festivities, there will also be open houses at the Museu del Suro, the Torre de guaita de Sant Sebastià, the Fundació Josep Pla, and the Museu Can Mario of the Fundació Vila Casas. The program also includes the 10th Paco Dalmau Photography Prize.
The poster for this 64th edition was designed by Gerard Soler Coll and takes as a reference the posters from the sixties and seventies.
