The Students' Union and the Lliures i Combatives collective have called a student strike and a demonstration in Barcelona on Friday, March 6, 2026. The feminist mobilization is brought forward two days with respect to International Women's Day, which this year falls on a Sunday.
Student demonstration in the center of Barcelona
The march will begin at 12 noon in University Square. The planned route will run along Pelai, Fontanella and Via Laietana streets, until reaching Sant Jaume Square. The call is aimed at students from 3rd year of ESO onwards, who have the recognized right to strike.
Under the slogan "They harass us, they rape us and they kill us! Enough is enough!", the organizers seek to make visible sexist violence and demand institutional responses. El Sindicat d'Estudiants has disseminated a statement in which it denounces the situation of inequality and demands structural measures to combat it.
Complaints against machista violence and criticisms of institutions
The statement points to the existence of "machos who believe it is fun to create fake nudes and share them on social media". In addition, the "impunity of powerful people with cases of sexual violence" is mentioned, citing the recent case of Julio Iglesias, which remains under investigation.
The organization also denounces "the contempt of the far right" towards the feminist movement and criticizes "the lukewarmness of the Government and the rest of the institutions" in the fight against harassment. The Students' Union demands more concrete actions to protect the victims and eradicate harassment in educational and social environments.
References to political controversies and international context
In the call, reference is made to the scandal that has affected the Socialist Party, pointing out that the feminism defended by the conveners "is at the antipodes of this posturing feminism of the PSOE, which has allowed sexual harassment within its own ranks".
The statement concludes by calling machismo "a fundamental part" of the "criminal capitalist system," and mentions international figures like Donald Trump, whom they accuse of denying the existence of gender violence and of threatening "democratic rights."
