Salt has hosted this Saturday a working day of the Regional Federation of ERC Girona focused on housing policies, with the participation of candidates for the upcoming municipal elections, mayors, mayoresses and councilors of the demarcation.
ERC Girona places Salt as a reference in protected housing
During the meeting, the regional president of Esquerra in Girona, Pau Presas, has positioned the municipality as a benchmark in this area. Presas has defined Salt as a clear example of a municipality that puts people at the center and also as a success story throughout Catalonia regarding official protected housing.
The session has served to share experiences of municipal management and put the focus on the tools that city councils can deploy to facilitate access to housing, one of the main concerns in numerous municipalities in the Girona demarcation.
The proposal involves expanding the IBI surcharges
In the session, Congress deputy Etna Estrems has also intervened, who has presented Esquerra's proposal to expand the cases of application of IBI surcharges. The objective is for city councils to have more margin to intervene in the housing market.
The initiative focuses on large holders, tourist-use housing, and large investment operations. Estrems has remarked that the measure does not seek to affect small owners.
