Salt closed this Sunday the 32nd edition of the Vila Gegantera with a multitudinous cercavila in which more than 800 people from 34 colles from the Gerundense comarcas participated. The retinue covered more than 800 meters between Lluís Companys square and the Massana rambla, where the day ended with the final dance of 22 pairs of giants.

A massive closing on the promenade of la Massana

The event put the final point to three days of activity in the municipality, which this year has hosted one of the most numerous gegantera meetings of the recent calendar. The final stretch of the celebration concentrated in the rambla de la Massana, scene of the last collective dance after the arrival of the cercavila.

"The Salt gathering has been one of those that has brought together the most groups in recent years" - Clara Anglada, president of the Coordinadora de Colles Geganteres de les Comarques Gironines

This year's edition has also coincided with the 30th anniversary of the local giants Roc i l'Afra, an anniversary that has given special weight to the programming organized in Salt.

Three days of events with schools, music and guest colles

The program started on Friday in Monar park with an activity in which about 400 students from schools in Salt participated. The day served to bring the gegantera culture closer to the youngest ones as part of the Vila Gegantera events.

Saturday continued with the Vermutines, a musical parade with six colles de grallers, and with another festive day that gathered eight colles and more than 200 participants. The influx of groups and participants has marked a particularly well-attended edition in the municipality.

Calonge will take over in 2027

During the celebration, the next venue for the meeting was also announced. Calonge will host the 33rd edition of the Vila Gegantera in 2027, thus taking over from Salt in an event that has once again mobilized dozens of colles from the Girona regions.

The final balance leaves a very participated edition, with a prominent presence of entities, schools and musical groups, and with Salt dedicated throughout the entire weekend in one of the most visible events of Girona's popular culture.
