The rigorous application of regulations on waste management has caused a notable increase in uncontrolled dumping in the regions of Girona. The Mossos d'Esquadra have detected this upturn while intensifying controls to prevent waste from ending up in unauthorized places.
Illegal waste in industrial estates

The agents frequently identify remains of marijuana plantations alongside waste from clandestine workshops and construction materials. three alleged responsible parties were arrested in recent operations related to these criminal activities.
Inaccessible wooded areas or riverbeds become recurring spots for these illicit activities. In the latter cases, the discharges include polluting fluids that require immediate action.
Massive spill next to the AVE tracks
The agents located on March 26 a large-volume dumping near the high-speed train tracks in Riudellots de la Selva. The inspection revealed mountains of debris mixed with wood and plasterboard panels.
