The City Council of Quart has activated this month of May the campaign "Your dog, your responsibility". The initiative seeks to curb the accumulation of canine excrement in streets and green areas of the municipality.

The regulation prohibits littering the public highway

The action responds to neighborhood complaints about the dirt detected in parks and gardens. The city council is now installing informative and dissuasive signs at the critical points where these droppings are concentrated.

Fines can reach 300 euros for minor infractions according to the current ordinance. This legal framework came into effect on October 10, 2025, after its unanimous approval in the plenary session of July 14.

Article 16 of the text explicitly regulates this matter. It obliges owners to pick up fecal remains and to prevent animals from soiling urban furniture or public structures.

"We had to focus on a problem that directly affects the coexistence and quality of life of the neighbors" - Ferran Rodero, mayor of Quart

The local administration distributes bag dispensers among owners. This measure benefits both dogs already registered in the municipal census and those who register during the campaign's validity.

Digital reinforcement of citizen awareness

The strategy combines physical presence with online dissemination. The government team publishes informative capsules on the municipal website and social networks to remind of the regulations and the consequences of their non-compliance.

The objective is to improve the hygiene of shared spaces through co-responsibility. The campaign will remain active throughout the current month with these support materials.
