The Portalada dels Apòstols, located on the south side access of the Girona cathedral, has been cordoned off after a detachment was detected at the end of last year. The lower area of the affected zone, in the square that bears the same name, remains cordoned off as a safety measure.

Inspection and first safety measures

Last week, municipal technicians carried out an inspection in which they identified several pieces with **lack of adherence**. The City Council has communicated this through its official channels. The delimitation of the perimeter seeks to prevent any incident while the next steps are evaluated

The landslide has not caused personal or material damage. The intervention remains in a preventive phase and no additional damage has been recorded in the immediate surroundings

Planned actions and structural review

According to municipal information, the affected pieces will be reviewed and consolidated to avoid future risks. At the moment, the technical services are studying how to act as quickly as possible. The priority is to guarantee the safety of visitors and preserve the architectural heritage. The Portal of the Apostles is a work begun in the second half of the 14th century and rehabilitated in the 1970s. Originally it had a cover and sculptures of the twelve apostles, six on each side. Currently only two sculptures are preserved, those of Andrew and Judas, which are located at the entrance of the Cathedral's Treasury
