The Generalitat de Catalunya has set the minimum services for the strike days called in the education sector during the months of May and June. The Departament d'Empresa i Treball has established the mandatory staff ratios to guarantee basic attention in schools and in the field of educational leisure.

One teacher for every three active classrooms

The decree determines that there must be one teacher present for every three classrooms in nurseries, as well as in the infant, primary, and secondary levels. This measure seeks to balance the right to protest with the need to protect minors who attend educational centers.

In the case of school canteens and the reception service, the rule requires the presence of 50% of the usual staff. These figures aim to ensure that families with children in their care and without care alternatives have a support network during strikes.

The majority unions have rejected the previous agreement reached by the government with CCOO and UGT. They consider that the pact was signed behind the backs of the majority of the teaching collective and does not resolve the structural deficiencies of the system.

Seven days of strike in Barcelona

A total of 17 strike days have been called, combining territorial stoppages and Catalan-level mobilizations. In the city of Barcelona, seven days of stoppage are planned: five will affect schools and institutes, while two will correspond to nursery schools.

"We demand to recover the purchasing power of teachers" - USTEC-STEs, convoking union

The organizations USTEC-STEs, Professors de Secundària ASPEPC-sps, CGT, and Intersindical maintain their demands. Their demands focus on increasing educational investment to reduce student-to-classroom ratios.

They also demand concrete improvements in the attention to student diversity. The reduction of the administrative bureaucratic burden is another of the central axes of the union protest.
