More than a thousand educational centers in Catalonia have adhered to the manifesto that proposes not to organize camps or school trips next school year. The initiative, disseminated through the portal Aturem sortides educatives, adds 1,048 adhesions from schools and institutes from different territorial services.

The measure places pressure on a usual activity of the school calendar that depends directly on the teaching staff. The manifesto maintains that teachers will stop carrying out these activities until the Department of Education implements improvements in the public education system, so that part of the protest falls on an offer that is part of the ordinary life of the schools.

Girona gathers 217 adhesions and Barcelona surpasses one hundred

Girona heads the list of territorial services with 217 affiliated centers. Behind it are Maresme-Vallès Oriental with 141, Vallès Occidental with 123, Lleida with 118, and the Consorci d'Educació de Barcelona with 101.

The distribution shows that support for the initiative is not concentrated in a single area. The manifesto was born from teachers from Maresme and Selva, but it has ended up receiving adhesions from centers throughout Catalonia.

Manifest links veto on departures to changes in public school

The text was promoted in February and sets a concrete condition for lifting the measure. The promoting teachers state that they will not carry out school trips or summer camps as long as the Departament d'Educació does not implement improvements that they define as real, structural, and effective in the public education system.

In their argumentation, the proponents present the decision as a legitimate pressure measure. They also maintain that it responds to problems that, in their opinion, have been dragging on for years and have reached a point they consider unsustainable.

By territorial volume, Girona concentrates 217 adhesions to the manifesto, followed by Maresme-Vallès Oriental with 141 and Vallès Occidental with 123, while Lleida adds 118 and the Consorci d'Educació de Barcelona, 101.
