The Sala del Cel of Girona has temporarily suspended its activity as a protest measure due to the lack of response from the City Council and to demand that the Prosecutor's Office push forward the investigation into alleged irregularities in the recreational activities sector of the city.
The management of the establishment maintains that it does not claim a singular treatment, but demands that the rules be applied with the same criterion to all premises. The company assures that it has been reporting to the administration alleged breaches of licenses and safety conditions in different businesses since the beginning of the 2023 legislature.
Investigation opened in the Prosecutor's Office
The Public Prosecutor's Office maintains open proceedings since October 2024. In that framework, the provision of the complete files of the reported establishments has been requested, with the documentation related to inspections, licenses and administrative actions.
The management of La Sala del Cel wants that analysis to clarify the actions of the public officials, of the URPA and of the Local Police, with the objective of determining if omissions could have occurred and if there are responsibilities derived from that management.
Complaint of unequal treatment
The establishment claims to have been subject to closures and seals for alleged time infractions, while other venues that, in its opinion, would be in an irregular situation have maintained their activity normally. That alleged unequal treatment is one of the axes of the protest announced by the company.

The company maintains that the temporary suspension of activity seeks to make that situation visible and pressure for the already open investigation to advance. It also makes clear that it does not rule out new initiatives in the administrative and judicial field.
Possible actions for damages and losses
The company plans to take action to demand accountability, including a possible claim for patrimonial liability against the administrations for the damages and losses it considers caused. That move will be linked to the outcome of the proceedings and the examination of the requested files.
With this decision, La Sala del Cel places the focus on municipal management and on the control of recreational activity in Girona, awaiting that the ongoing investigation specifies if there were irregularities, omissions or an unequal criterion of action between establishments.
