La Fúmiga performed this Friday in the Mirona hall of Salt its first stop in Catalonia of the farewell tour L'últim abraç, within the Strenes festival. The performance in the municipality of Gironès gathered the band from Alzira in one of the marked concerts before the definitive closure of its trajectory, scheduled for October.

The Salt event also featured the participation of the Girona singer and songwriter Juls as the opening act. The concert was the result of the alliance between the Strenes festival and the cultural foundation El foment.

Final stretch before the October concerts

The Valencian band will put an end to its journey with four concerts under the slogan Everything ends, scheduled at the Sant Jordi Club in Barcelona and at the Roig Arena in València. It will be the closing of a trajectory that the group faces at a moment of strong connection with the public.

Àrtur Martínez, singer of La Fúmiga, defined this stretch as an especially significant stage for the formation.

"It's the sweetest moment because we have been a group that has always grown organically and last year was a very intense tour, because we knew it was the last one so strong. We did 83 concerts and we felt that every day there was more esteem, each time we felt closer to the public" - Àrtur Martínez, singer of La Fúmiga

A milestone in València singing in Valencian

One of the milestones of this farewell will arrive at the Roig Arena, where La Fúmiga will be the first group to sing in Valencian to fill the venue. The space has capacity for 18,000 people per day.

Martínez highlighted the scope of that data and linked it to the desire to normalize music in its language in large formats.

"In the end, it is the largest indoor stadium in the Spanish State and there are 18,000 people per day. And it has been filled. It is true that we are very aware that it is because it is the end but we would like this to be something much more natural and to empower ourselves by singing in our language" - Àrtur Martínez, singer of La Fúmiga

Critique of the political context in the Valencian Country

The vocalist also referred to the difficulties that, in his opinion, Valencian music faces in the País Valenciano. In his statements, he directly pointed out the role of politics in the situation of the language.

"The biggest obstacle in music in País Valenciano is always politics, which increasingly more directly tries to corner the language in the most inhospitable margins. This was always happening when we were teenagers and there is a deep intentionality that we will never be able to understand on the part of right-wing governments to absolutely invisibilize everything that happens in our language" - Àrtur Martínez, singer of La Fúmiga

The stop in Salt thus opened the Catalan stretch of a farewell that will culminate in autumn between Barcelona and València, with the band settled in one of the moments of greatest projection of its career.
