A 79-year-old resident of Els Omellons died yesterday morning when he suffered an accident with a tractor with a trailer on the Rodants road, in this municipality of Les Garrigues. The vehicle went off the road and fell down an embankment in an area of agricultural properties, according to the Servei Català de Trànsit.
Death arrives barely forty-eight hours after another fatal tractor accident in the Lleida regions. On Friday, a 52-year-old resident of Albesa died in a municipality in La Noguera.
The alert mobilized ten emergency teams in Els Omellons
Emergency services received the alert at 09:10. Four patrols from the Mossos d'Esquadra, three units from the Bombers de la Generalitat, and three SEM units, in addition to a psychological support team, attended the Rodants road.
The accident occurred in an area of agricultural farms.
The victim was a retired farmer from the municipality. The Els Omellons town hall decreed two days of mourning and called for a minute of silence in his memory in front of the town hall in the afternoon.
