Isabel Rodríguez, minister of Housing and Urban Agenda, visited this Wednesday the works of two protected housing developments in the Girona neighborhood of Domeny. The head of the state department stressed that political will is key to resolving the housing crisis during her inspection of the sites.

The two buildings will total 48 floors once construction work is completed. The Girona City Council ceded the land to the Salas Foundation to develop this affordable rental project in the northern part of the city.

The minister claims to add administrations and resources

Rodríguez defended the need to involve the private and social sectors along with public resources. His objective is to expand the park of available housing for those groups with greater difficulty accessing the real estate market.

The event was attended by several Catalan and local authorities. Sílvia Paneque, Minister of Territory, Housing and Ecological Transition, accompanied the minister during the tour of the sites where work has already begun.

Also attending were Lluc Salellas, mayor of Girona, and Miquel Noguer, president of the Diputació de Girona. The collaboration between these institutions allows progress in the transfer of public land for social purposes.

The non-profit entity is responsible for the promotion of these homes on the two plots of land ceded by the council. This mixed management model seeks to speed up the implementation of urgent housing solutions.

The visit focused on verifying the initial state of the works in Domeny. The joint presence of state, regional, and local representatives reflects the commitment to institutional coordination in housing rights.
