Protecció Civil de la Generalitat has activated the pre-alert of the Inuncat plan given the forecast of strong storms this Sunday afternoon in the northern third of Catalunya. The episode may leave intense showers from midday until night, with special incidence in regions of Alt Pirineu i Aran, Catalunya Central and Girona.
Forecast of intense rains in twelve regions
The meteorological alert focuses on a dozen regions where showers can exceed 20 liters per square meter in 30 minutes. The warning affects l'Alta Ribagorça, Pallars Jussà, Pallars Sobirà, Alt Urgell, Cerdanya, Solsonès, Berguedà, Osona, Lluçanès, Ripollès, Garrotxa and la Selva.
The forecast points to locally intense precipitation during the afternoon, in a time slot that will go from midday until nightfall. In some places, the rain may be accompanied by hail or stone, which may complicate the situation both on the road and in outdoor spaces.
Request for prudence
Given this scenario, Protecció Civil asks to extreme caution, especially in driving and in activities planned outdoors. The recommendation is directed particularly to the areas where more active storms are expected, with possibility of rapid accumulations of water in a short time.
Monitoring continues over the northern regions of the country throughout this Sunday afternoon, with an eye on the evolution of some storms that can discharge with force and in a very localized way.
