Hatim Azahri Akhnous has been distinguished with the Princess of Girona Social Award 2026 during the central event of the Talent Tour held in Sant Boi de Llobregat. The ceremony was attended by H. M. the King and brought together representatives of social entities and young people from all over Catalonia.

Recognition for social work in Poble-sec

Azahri was born in Nador in 1998 and has lived in the Poble-sec neighborhood of Barcelona since he was two years old. He is a higher technician in Social Integration and currently studies Social Work at the University of Barcelona. In 2019, he founded the non-profit youth association Joves Units del Poble-sec, of which he is president. The organization works with young people at risk of exclusion through community sports, the creation of safe spaces, and the transformation of public space

Among the projects promoted by Azahri are the improvement of the Jardins de les Tres Xemeneies, the creation of the first popular gym in Poble-sec, and the community construction of water wells in Togo. Azahri carries out its professional work in the Ciutat Vella district, where it participates in the public space intervention and community mediation service

Institutional Participation and Speech of Gratitude

The award-winning is part of the Antiracist Advisory Council of the Barcelona City Council, of the Municipal Council of Immigration and is a patron of the Bofill Foundation. In addition, he has been selected for the Generació de Propòsit program of the Princess of Girona Foundation
