The Balandrau and Bastiments walkways, in Girona, will remain temporarily closed for about 15 days due to improvement works. Passage through the Balandrau walkway has been cut off this Tuesday and the two structures will be out of service at the same time while the planned works are carried out.
Works to improve safety
The action includes the rehabilitation of the pavement and the repair of the railings of both footbridges. The objective is to reinforce the safety of users and improve the general condition of these structures.
The municipal forecast is to first complete the intervention on the Bastiments walkway and, subsequently, concentrate the work on that of Balandrau. In this way, the works will advance with a staggered planning within the fixed deadline.
Temporary impact during two weeks
The City Council of Girona has indicated that this affectation is temporary and responds to the need to execute the works safely and within the foreseen deadlines. The estimated duration of the closure is approximately 15 days, although the reopening will depend on the evolution of the works at each point.
The two walkways will become inoperative simultaneously during this phase of the intervention, in an action focused on leaving both the surface and the lateral protection elements in better condition before restoring normal passage.
