Girona will expand the Girocleta network this year with five new stations in Pont Major, Barri Vell, Devesa Güell, Montilivi, and Palau sacosta. With this action, the service will go from 36 to 41 points distributed throughout the city.
The municipal forecast is that the construction works will begin during the second half of the year. Each of the new stations will have around 25 parking spaces and the expected price is 38,000 euros excluding VAT per station. In parallel, at the end of the year, the purchase of new bicycles is planned to coincide with the start of operation of these spaces.
Expansion in five neighborhoods of Girona
In Pont Major, the new station will be located in front of the Just M. Casero Library, on Pere Rabat passage, within the Neighborhood Plan. The objective is to reinforce the connection with Sarrià de Ter.
In Barri Vell, the base will be installed on Bellaire street. The location seeks to bring the service closer to Sant Daniel and the area located at the foot of Montjuïc.
In La Devesa, the new point will be placed near the Palau de Fires, in the Joaquim Vayreda roundabout. In this area, the station is designed to improve the connection with the Palau de Fires, l Auditori, the Palau de Justícia and the CAP Güell.
In Montilivi, the station will be next to the CAP, in the parking lot of carrer d Andreu Tuyet i Santamaria. It is also planned to facilitate access to l Escola Pericot and bring the Girocleta closer to the Parc de Recerca i Innovació of the Universitat de Girona.
In Palau sacosta, the new base will be located on carrer del Riu Freser, in front of the Mercantile Registry. The forecast is to improve the connection with the Mas Gri park-and-ride and with facilities such as Escola Marta Mata, Clínica Girona, and the Consell Comarcal del Gironès.
