The Girona+Neta staff has called an indefinite strike that will begin on Monday, May 4 at 00:00. The conflict directly affects the street cleaning service and waste collection in the city.

Race against time

The works council plans to resume talks on Sunday at noon. The aim is to reach an agreement through a last-minute mediation before the official start of the protest.

Sources place the main blockage in working days and the obligation to work on holidays. The responsibility to avoid the strike falls, according to the committee, on a real movement from the company after two previous mediations.

"The responsibility to avoid the strike lies with a real move from the company"

The disagreement centers on five key points, including schedules, holidays, and CPI-linked increases. The staff demands that shift schedules from the collective agreement be respected and that work on rest days not be imposed.

Social support and skepticism

After the assembly on April 30, the staff has conveyed their total support to the committee representatives for these final days of negotiation. The conflict was approved in mid-April and maintains entrenched positions.

The committee positively values the Girona City Council's willingness to listen but maintains that positions remain deadlocked. They regret not having been called to any meeting on Saturday, May 2nd.

"The positions remain entrenched despite the municipal willingness to listen"

The mediation of the Bar Association, cited in the last few hours, has not yet occurred. Negotiations continue under pressure as the deadline set for next Monday approaches.
