Approximately five hundred early childhood educators gathered at noon in Plaça del Vi to begin a march that toured the city center. The professionals demanded official recognition from the Department of Education for the 0 to 3 years cycle as a full educational stage.
Workers denounce precarious working conditions and high ratios
The collective's demands focus on the dignification of working conditions and the reduction of student-teacher ratios. The sector also demands sufficient and stable public funding that guarantees the quality of the service.
Educators warn about low salaries and significant pay gaps depending on the management model of each center. This situation generates an excessive workload that directly affects their physical and emotional health.

The mobilization coincides with the first days of the pre-enrollment process, which began last Tuesday and will end on May 19. This overlap seeks to make the importance of the sector visible to families and the administration.
A call that will extend to Barcelona
The strike also affected nursery school teachers managed by the Generalitat de Catalunya and private centers. The Departament d'Educació does not currently have tracking data segregated by regions for these other managements.
The 0-3 Platform has already announced a second mobilization for May 20. On that day, a unified demonstration is planned in Barcelona that will bring together professionals from all over the Catalan territory.
