Girona will launch this summer 3,320 places in 49 municipal summer camps aimed at boys, girls, and adolescents aged 0 to 17 during the months of June, July, and August. The municipal offer grows compared to last year with 30 more places and will be deployed in schools, municipal sports facilities, and civic centers of the city.

Pre-registrations will open from April 7 to 19 and must be processed through the Girona City Council website. The program is organized by 25 different entities, which will undertake the development of the activities with a joint staff of more than 400 male and female monitors for the entire summer campaign.

More places and reinforcement of the inclusive offer

The council maintains the line of expansion of municipal places with the objective that no minor is left out of educational leisure activities during the summer. In this edition, furthermore, two of the summer camps will be destined for special education for the minors who need it.

The program incorporates the Inclusion Plan, designed to facilitate the participation of boys, girls and young people in situations of social risk or with special educational needs. Each entity will have the figure of an inclusion referent and the City Council will coordinate the educational agents who work with these minors throughout the course so that the management teams of the community centers have the necessary information about their participation.

Specific offer for early childhood

In the 1 to 3 year old age group, the summer camps will be organized with the collaboration of the associations of student families of the municipal nursery schools. This age group will add 284 places, 11% more than last summer.

During the month of June, the activity will be held again at the Escola de Santa Eugènia, as part of a program that seeks to give continuity to the offer for the little ones in different parts of Girona.

New spaces for the theatrical youth club

Among the novelties of this summer is the incorporation of the Municipal Theater and the La Mercè Cultural Center as spaces for the youth theater camp. The program will also be supported by the participation of cultural entities, sports clubs, family associations, and scout groups, among other collectives involved in the educational and leisure activity of the city.

The City Council plans to maintain open training for the monitors of the municipal summer camps program, with the intention of reinforcing the preparation of the teams that will work with the minors throughout the entire summer campaign.
