The Association Against Cancer in Girona will set up fifteen information booths this Saturday, May 9th, on the city streets to conduct its annual collection. The solidarity action coincides with the Temps de Flors celebration and aims to raise funds for cancer research and sustain the free services the organization offers to patients and their families.
Volunteers will occupy key points in the urban center between 8:30 AM and 1:30 PM. The distribution covers busy areas such as Cul de la Lleona, plaça del Lleó, passeig de la Devesa, and plaça de la Sardana. There will also be a presence at Pont de la Barca, carrer Santa Clara, l'avinguda del Vint de Juny, l'Estació Espai Jove, plaça Poeta Marquina, and plaça Miquel Santaló.
Institutions Join Fundraising
The main table will be located in Plaça Pompeu Fabra, right in front of the sculpture of les Lletres Toves. The provincial president of the association will be present there to coordinate the central events of the day. This year's campaign operates under the slogan "When you stop, we move against cancer".
Several public officials will actively participate in the collection of donations. The sub-delegate of the Government in Girona, Pere Parramon, will attend to passers-by from the table set up on l'avinguda del Vint de Juny. For their part, the Minister of Territory, Housing and Ecological Transition, Sílvia Paneque, will collaborate in fundraising tasks.

Besides the points in the Girona capital, the organization will install an additional table in front of the Ajuntament de Sarrià de Ter. This territorial expansion seeks to maximize the visibility of the cause in the immediate metropolitan area.
Free services for twenty thousand affected
The entity maintains an assistance network that covers 29 locations in the district. The resources obtained through this collection allow for psychological care, social work, physiotherapy, speech therapy, and support at no cost to users.
The objective set by the association's management is ambitious. They aim to contribute to overcoming the 70 percent cancer survival rate by the horizon of 2030. To achieve this, it is essential to expand coverage of care and guarantee the continuity of current support programs.
