Girona is finalizing the details to inaugurate the floral exhibition Temps de Flors this Saturday. The city is preparing its most emblematic spaces to receive an edition marked by historic participation and architectural novelties.
The garbage strike conditioned the last adjustments on the public road until the eve. Despite logistical difficulties, the assembly teams completed the installation of the main parts in the hours before the official start.
Teresa Vidal pays tribute to Gaudí in the Cathedral
Teresa Vidal, doctor in architecture and expert in Catalan modernism, premieres her presence at the exhibition with the work "Trencadís en flors". The installation is located on the stairs of the Cathedral and consists of 42 manually crafted blocks.
The project is directly linked to the celebration of Any Gaudí 2026. Vidal seeks to pay homage to the trencadís technique and modernist aesthetics through plant compositions that dialogue with the stone of the monument.
"It's the best to have this opportunity" - Teresa Vidal, doctor of architecture
The creator thanked the council for the opportunity to develop her proposal in such a significant environment. For Vidal, the intervention summarizes a core idea: Gaudí is present in Girona's identity.
Anna Maria Figa turns half a century of participations
Anna Maria Figa, president of the Associació Amics de les Flors, participates for the 51st consecutive year. At 84 years old, the artist presents her installation at the Banys Àrabs alongside Margarita Pla and Carolina Rodríguez.
The work, titled "Decadence is not the end, it is the seed", uses dry trunks combined with fresh flowers. The ensemble visually represents the contrast between the wear of time and the regenerative capacity of nature.
"You always have to suffer a little, but in the end everything works out" - Anna Maria Figa, president of the Associació Amics de les Flors
Figa described the preparation as the illusion of the whole year. Despite the nerves of the final stretch and external inconveniences, the veteran florist showed her confidence in the final result.
The Barcelona School of Floral Design intervenes in the Pont de les Peixateries Velles. Its proposal, "Living Columns," integrates red bromeliads into the metal structure of the bridge to create an intense chromatic contrast.
