The Catalan police arrested a man, 30 years old, for committing two violent robberies in pharmacies in Girona and Salt. The events occurred on May 1st and the identification of the suspect was possible thanks to a crucial oversight during his escape.
The first assault took place around 12:00 hours in a pharmacy in Girona. The individual entered the establishment, broke a bottle against the floor, and used the glass to threaten the workers. He demanded money under this extreme coercion before fleeing.
A second aggression with identical modus operandi
Five hours later, at 5:30 PM, the same subject replicated the action in a pharmacy in Salt. He posed as a customer to gain access to the interior and once again used a broken bottle as an intimidating weapon against the pharmacist on duty.
The precipitation marked the end of his crime spree. Upon leaving the second store, the thief lost his personal documentation without realizing it while picking up the bills that had fallen to the ground.
"The Investigation Unit identified the suspect thanks to the lost documentation" - Mossos d'Esquadra, police force
The agents of the Girona Investigation Unit crossed the data found in the street with their records. They located the author and proceeded to his arrest three days after the robberies in the city of Girona.
Background and judicial charges
The arrested person has a police record for similar incidents. The justice system charges him with two counts of robbery with violence and intimidation for the assaults perpetrated in both towns.
After the police proceedings, the detainee was brought before the Girona duty court to testify about the investigated events.
