At least four people were arrested this Friday in a new police operation in the occupied buildings of the Ferran Puig ring road in Girona, in an intervention that forced traffic to be cut off in both directions and that again generated traffic disruptions in the area.
The operation was deployed in the vicinity of the two buildings on this street where most of the flats are occupied. The Mossos d'Esquadra and the Municipal Police intervened again in the action, having already acted on Thursday afternoon at the same spot.
Arrested for robbery with violence and assault on authority
Police sources place three of those arrested under accusation of robbery with violence with exhibition of machetes and knives. A fourth arrested person is accused of an alleged assault against authority.
The same sources point out that three of the four detainees from this Friday had already been arrested the previous day in relation to the case of the robberies with force inside the homes.
Second day of intervention at the same point
These arrests join the eight carried out on Thursday in the same Ferran Puig ring road. In that intervention, three people were arrested for an alleged violation of domicile when trying to occupy flats, while another five were arrested for an alleged robbery with force inside the homes.
The new police action once again brought tension and movement to an area that has been under neighborhood and police surveillance for months. The closure of the Ferran Puig ring road in both directions complicated mobility in the area during the deployment.
Neighborhood complaints for the state of the properties
The operation has taken place in a sector of the city where residents have been alerting for months about nuisances and situations of degradation linked to the state of the occupied properties. Among the reported incidents is the accumulation of sewage in the interior courtyard of number 13 15.
The City Council has required the property owner of number 13 15 to act due to the presence of fecal waters accumulated in the interior patio. The situation maintains attention on this stretch of Ferran Puig avenue, where both police pressure and neighborhood complaints continue due to the deterioration of the surroundings.
