The court has decreed provisional prison, communicated and without bail for one of the detainees for the violent death of a man stabbed last weekend in Olot. The case currently involves three arrests, with two adults and a minor implicated in the judicial investigation opened for the events.

The victim was Adrián Romero, a 31-year-old resident of Olot, who had been living for eight years in the Garrotxa region. He was found at dawn, lying on the ground and with at least one stab wound in the back, on dels Almogàvers street, in the Sant Miquel neighborhood.

An adult in prison, another remains as a witness and the minor enters internment

Of the three arrests made for this death, two correspond to adults aged 18 and 34, arrested on Wednesday afternoon in the capital of La Garrotxa. One of them has entered provisional prison, while the arrest of the second has been rendered ineffective and now has the status of a witness within the procedure, according to judicial sources.

The third arrested, a minor, has remained in a situation of internment. The investigation remains open to clarify the concrete participation of each of those implicated and determine the authorship of the fatal aggression.

The victim was found on dels Almogàvers street

Adrián Romero was located on Sunday 22 on a public street, on dels Almogàvers street. Patrols of the Mossos d'Esquadra, agents of the Local Police, and personnel from the Medical Emergency System moved to the scene, who could do nothing to save his life.

The investigation has been left in the hands of the Divisió d'Investigació Criminal de Girona of the Mossos d'Esquadra, which is working to clarify both the circumstances of what happened and the responsibility of those arrested. Pending the progress of the proceedings, this case stands as the first crime in the Girona regions in 2026.

The family asks for help to cover the cost of the funeral

While the judicial investigation continues, Adrián Romero's family has asked for financial help to cover the funeral expenses and facilitate that his mother, resident in Honduras, can travel and say her last goodbye in Olot.
