The fire consumed a room and part of the false ceiling of a third floor on Avinguda del Segre in Puigcerdà during Saturday night. The flames did not affect the building's roof.
Six crews from the Generalitat Firefighters attended the scene to extinguish the fire that broke out inside the home.
No injuries but with structural damage
No one was injured in the incident, although the occupants had to evacuate the home as a precaution while the firefighting efforts lasted.
Emergency teams proceeded to ventilate the property once the fire was controlled to eliminate the smoke accumulated in the rooms.
The intervention was quick and prevented the incident from spreading to other common areas or adjoining homes.
Mandatory technical inspection before return
Residents will not be able to stay overnight in the apartment tonight. The safety of the structure requires a professional assessment.
A technician will have to review the damage caused by the flames and heat before authorizing the residents' return to their homes.
