Eight aesthetic centers in Lloret de Mar have been subject to inspection on Friday, February 20, in a joint operation by the Civil Guard and the Local Police, with the support of the Labor and Social Security Inspectorate. The operation has uncovered irregularities in all inspected premises and has resulted in the opening of 50 reports for administrative infractions in fiscal, health, labor, and social security matters.
Non-compliances detected in all centers
The inspections have revealed a series of non-compliances with current regulations. Among the main irregularities are undeclared products or products introduced without complying with the legal requirements for their commercialization in the State. In addition, products with unauthorized substances or in conditions that could pose a risk to consumers have been located.
The lack of correct labeling on several cosmetics hinders the traceability and control of these products. This situation has motivated the intervention and sealing of the detected articles, which have been left at the disposal of the competent authorities in the establishments themselves.
Administrative proceedings and applicable regulations
The Administrative Police unit of the Local Police has opened preliminary administrative proceedings for the detected infringements. These proceedings refer to the Smuggling Law, EC Regulation 1223/2009 on cosmetic products, Royal Decree 85/2018, and Law 18/2009 on public health of Catalonia.
The operation has counted on the collaboration of the Inspection of Labor and Social Security, which has centered part of the action in the labor and social security scope of the inspected centers.
Assessment of the authorities and consumer protection
"From the Lloret City Council, the operation has been valued as an example of coordination between police forces and administrations to reinforce consumer protection and avoid practices that can affect public health" - Civil Guard, statement
"This type of inspections are fundamental to guarantee compliance with legality, protect the health of consumers and ensure decent and safe working conditions in this type of premises"
The authorities keep the seized products sealed and continue with the administrative actions. The operation is part of the surveillance of legality in the sector and the protection of public health in Lloret de Mar.
