Two agents of the Mossos d'Esquadra were expelled after infiltrating a teaching assembly at Institut Pau Claris, located in the Ciutat Vella neighborhood of Barcelona. The incident occurred during a meeting of striking teachers, where the uniformed officers posed as employees of the Consorci d'Educació.

The educational collective identified the two women and denied their version about their labor connection with the center. The detection caused the immediate withdrawal of the agents from the school premises.

Unions denounce espionage against teaching staff

The sector's reaction was immediate. The unions USTEC-STEs, IAC, Professors de Secundària, CGT and Intersindical issued a joint statement to condemn the events. The organizations criticized the democratic quality of the current government.

These formations assured that this practice violates the fundamental rights of educational personnel. The complaint underscores the seriousness of using police resources to monitor union activities within public schools.

Four groups demand explanations from Parliament

The controversy has jumped into the political arena. The parliamentary groups of ERC, Junts per Catalunya, En Comú Podem, and CUP have requested urgent explanations from the Catalan chamber. The questions are directed at the minister of the Department of the Interior, Núria Parlon.

They also demand answers from the Minister of the Department of Education Esther Niubó and the Director of the Mossos d'Esquadra Josep Lluís Trapero. Institutional pressure seeks to clarify the operational scope of this action.

ERC and CUP have gone beyond requesting information. Both parties have asked for the dismissal of the Director General of the Mossos d'Esquadra. They consider that political responsibility falls directly on the police leadership.

Salvador Illa, president of the Generalitat of Catalonia, addressed the matter in an interview with Cadena SER. The leader assured that he had no prior knowledge of the specific case.

Illa expressed full confidence in the professionalism of the police force. He announced that the minister Parlon will give the appropriate explanations to clarify the facts before society and institutions.

The Mossos d'Esquadra responded through an official statement. The institution assured that it always acts according to current law. They expressed their full willingness to give all necessary explanations to the parliamentary groups that request them.
