Total crime in Olot fell by 7.9% in 2025 compared to the previous year, with a decrease from 1,496 criminal offenses in 2024 to 1,378 last year. The general evolution shows fewer crimes registered in the capital of La Garrotxa, although some types strongly rebounded, especially those linked to sexual freedom.

Sexual crimes rise despite global decline

The most relevant increase occurred in crimes against sexual freedom, which grew by 55.6% in one year. They went from 18 cases in 2024 to 28 in 2025. Within this block, sexual assaults with penetration doubled, with a jump from 8 known incidents to 16.

Also rose the crimes of injuries and tumultuous brawls, with an increase of 11.1%. These are the main upturns in a statistic that, overall, breaks downwards.

Robberies, thefts and drug trafficking fall

The majority of conventional crime indicators closed 2025 with decreases in Olot. Robberies with violence decreased by 42.9%, while burglaries decreased by 12.7%.

In the patrimonial sphere, thefts decreased by 21% and vehicle thefts decreased by 28.6%. A 21.3% drop in burglaries in homes was also registered. Added to that is a decrease of 42.9% in drug trafficking.

Cybercrime barely varies, but other digital frauds grow

Cybercrime remained practically stable in Olot during 2025, with a minimal variation of 0.5%. Within this section, computer scams decreased by 4.6%.

The behavior was different in the rest of cybercrimes, which increased by 237.5%. This section went from 8 cases in 2024 to 27 in 2025, a notable increase despite the general stability of the digital block.

Pending the evolution of 2026

The statistical snapshot of Olot shows an overall decrease in criminality, but with significant upturns in sexual offenses and in some acts committed in the digital environment. To check if this trend consolidates or changes in the coming months, the publication of the data for the first quarter of 2026 is pending.
