The wind continues to cause incidents this Friday in the regions of Girona, with special impact in Empordà, where the Bombers de la Generalitat have continued to attend to calls during the early morning and the first hours of the morning. No personal injuries have been reported, although the episode forces vigilance to be maintained in the most exposed areas.

Until 8:00 AM, close to a dozen operations had been recorded. Early in the morning, that figure already stood at around thirty. All incidents attended to during the day have been of little consideration and, for the most part, related to the fall of trees and other unstable elements.

Fallen trees and elements at risk of detachment

Among the most notable services this Friday are several fallen trees in Castelló d"Empúries, Pedret i Marzà, Garriguella, Pontós y Ventalló. In Peralada, firefighters have checked a sign that presented a risk of detaching. In Cantallops, the fall of a light pole has also been reported.

The situation is framed within the continuity of the tramontana storm that already hit hard on Thursday the Girona regions. During that day, approximately 80 incidents were registered throughout Girona, in a sequence of warnings that especially affected the coast and the north of Empordà.

The tramontana maintains the pressure in the north of Girona

Thursday also left notable meteorological records. The maximum wind gust reached 148.3 km/h in Portbou, while the buoy at Cap de Begur measured waves up to 6.69 meters, a reflection of the intensity of the maritime and wind episode.

Given the persistence of the tramontana, the authorities maintain the call for prudence, especially in the most exposed areas of Empordà, where the wind continues to cause small incidents and can compromise the stability of trees, signs or other elements on public roads.
