A total of 45,821 students have enrolled in the 2026 PAU in Catalonia, a figure that marks the fifth consecutive record and surpasses the 44,238 registered the previous year. The exams will be held on June 9, 10, and 11 in 1,500 classrooms distributed among 223 examination boards in 33 municipalities.
The increase in students comes with a reinforcement of controls within the classrooms. The Catalan Interuniversity Council will incorporate random inspections this year with electronic device detectors, so carrying mobile phones, smartwatches, or digital pens can lead to immediate expulsion, a zero on the exam, and even the annulment of all tests.
Barcelona concentrates 34,606 enrolled students and the PAU will add two new venues
The demarcation of Barcelona gathers 34,606 registered students, while Tarragona registers 4,431, Girona reaches 4,068, and Lleida adds 2,716. In total, the call anticipates 245,572 exams with the participation of 2,400 teachers among correction and invigilation staff.
In addition, the organization has incorporated two new venues in El Vendrell, linked to the URV, and in Vilassar de Mar, linked to the UPF. Starting June 5, students will be able to consult the exact location of their exam.
In parallel, 19 high schools are participating in a pilot digitalization test to process university access through IdCAT Mòbil. The forecast is to extend this system progressively to all students.
Around 3,000 students will have adaptations and September will be the last call in that month
7% of those enrolled, around 3,000 students, have requested adaptations for specific educational support needs. Among these is an additional 30 minutes per exam and a reduction in the count of spelling errors in cases of dyslexia.
A special incidents board will also operate for students with a recognized disability of 33% or higher, or who require specific attention or adjustments in the questions. The tests will maintain the same structure of 35 subjects and two phases.
Among the academic novelties, Performing Arts and Choir and Vocal Technique are incorporated into the subjects with text production. In this block, a discount of up to 10% may be applied for errors in coherence, cohesion, and linguistic norms.
Núria Montserrat, Minister of Research and Universities, has indicated that her department is working in coordination with the Department of the Interior for the pontiff's major events scheduled for those dates. The minister has asked students to prioritize public transport and plan their travel in advance for entering and leaving exams.
The extraordinary call for 2026 will be held on September 2, 3, and 4 and will be the last one scheduled for that month, as from 2027 it will move to July. June grades will be published on June 23 and university enrollment will take place from July 21 to 23.
