The Girona City Council congratulated Mercè Canals i Reixach this midday on her 105th birthday during a visit to the Adorea Girona Residence. The mayor, Lluc Salellas i Vilar, and the councilor for Ciutat que Cuida, Gemma Martínez i Villagrasa, participated in the event.

During the visit, the council presented her with a bouquet of flowers and a congratulatory letter signed by the mayor. The event was held at the residence where she currently lives.

From Llorà to Sant Narcís before moving to the residence
Mercè Canals i Reixach was born in Llorà in 1921. Later she lived for a few years in Sant Gregori and then moved to the Sant Narcís neighborhood of Girona, where she lived until she was one hundred years old.
She now lives at the Adorea Girona Residence, but maintains a daily routine outside the center. She goes out every day to shop and walk around the neighborhood.
Canals' life journey thus includes three nearby references from the Girona area, originating in Llorà, a period in Sant Gregori, and a long residence in Sant Narcís until the age of one hundred.
