The Mossos d'Esquadra are investigating the violent death of a man found in the early hours on dels Almogàvers street, in the Sant Miquel neighborhood of Olot. The victim, who for now has not been able to be identified, had stab wounds when he was found lying on the ground.
The alert was received around two in the morning. Mossos patrols, Olot Local Police officers, and Sistema d'Emergències Mèdiques units were dispatched to the scene. Once there, emergency services confirmed the death and observed signs of violence.
The DIC of Girona assumes the investigation
The investigation has been left in the hands of the Criminal Investigation Division of the Girona Police Region, which is working to clarify what happened at this point in Sant Miquel. One of the first lines of work involves identifying the deceased, a step that the police consider key to reconstructing the facts and determining the context in which the death occurred.
For the moment, the case is under secrecy of proceedings. No more details have emerged about the identity of the man nor about the specific circumstances in which the stabbing that is being investigated occurred.
Another recent precedent in the capital of Garrotxa
This new crime investigated in Olot comes after another recent case in the city. Last summer, a 50-year-old man died as a result of the beating he received during the Sant Joan eve of 2025 in the les Tries neighborhood. In that investigation there was at least one detainee and the victim's death was confirmed days later at the Trueta Hospital in Girona.
The priority now is to name the man who died on dels Almogàvers street to advance an investigation that, at this hour, remains open and without public details about possible perpetrators or about the motive for the aggression.
