The Institut Català de l'Energia and the Fundació Europace d'Olot have presented in Salt the pilot campaign Nòmada energètic, an initiative thought to bring closer advice in energy matters to vulnerable families and to residents of rural environments of the regions of Girona.

The proposal relies on an electric van with advisory staff that will travel through different Girona municipalities to offer practical information on home efficiency and to help interpret electricity bills. The objective is to take this service outside the usual administrative service channels and bring it closer to those who have the most difficulty accessing it.

Itinerant advisory in neighborhoods and towns

The campaign focuses on vulnerable groups both from neighborhoods in the Girona regions and from rural areas. The idea is to provide direct and local attention, with explanations adapted to daily situations related to domestic energy consumption.

"We have to leave the administrative offices and go to the street to help people understand things they don't understand and that they also don't consider going to the administration for them to explain them to them" - Jordi Güell, trustee of the Europace Foundation

From ICAEN, the campaign is proposed as a tool to prevent part of the population from being left out of the energy transition and of the already existing support resources.

"The main objective of Nòmada Energètic is to advise vulnerable groups from Girona neighborhoods and the rural population so as not to leave anyone behind" - Anna Camp, general director of ICAEN

A piece of the European CROWN project

Energy Nomad is part of the CROWN project, an initiative that has the support of the European program Single Market Programme. Within this framework, the itinerant campaign is presented as one of its main pillars.

The project also foresees other lines of work aimed at expanding the scope of energy accompaniment.

  • The development of training capsules
  • The establishment of a network of local ambassadors
  • The creation of a digital presence

With this pilot test presented in Salt, the promoting entities seek to extend useful information about energy consumption and saving where it usually costs more to reach, both in vulnerable neighborhoods and in small municipalities of the regions of Girona.
