A van of a construction company has fallen into the sea this Monday morning from the car park of the Timba pier, in Port de la Selva, without any injuries being reported.

The vehicle has ended up submerged at the bottom after filling with water, in an incident that occurred in an area very exposed to the north wind in the Mar d'Amunt. The Associació de Voluntaris de Protecció Civil of the municipality has confirmed that there have been no injured people.

The van ended up submerged in front of the dock

The fall occurred from the car park located next to the Timba pier. After plunging into the water, the van gradually filled until it was completely submerged. The vehicle sank to the bottom of the sea.

For now, the hypothesis being considered suggests that the vehicle might not have been sufficiently braked. That circumstance would have occurred on a morning marked by the north wind, a usual factor in this stretch of the Alt Empordà coast.

Without personal injuries

The incident has resulted in no injuries, despite the spectacular fall of the vehicle into the water. The possible cause under consideration is insufficient braking, although no further incidents associated with the accident in the port area have emerged.

The incident has generated expectation in the port area of Port de la Selva, where the van ended up disappearing under the water a few minutes after falling into the sea.
