The musical trio Xiprer, formed in early 2024 in l'Empordà, releases their first album this Friday, Perenne i per sempre brings together eleven songs about the housing crisis and labor exploitation. The group is made up of Enric Mont, Iñigo Sáenz, and Nil Bribian.
The band arrives at the album after debuting last year with Ciclista!, a song focused on the gentrification of Girona. There already appeared one of the project's lines, with lyrics that speak of "conquering hills with pedal strokes" to allude to tourists who arrive from all over the world.
Xiprer debuted with a song about the gentrification of Girona
That first release placed the group in unusual territory for a band that had just started. Instead of presenting themselves with a more generic introductory track, Xiprer focused on a very specific problem in Girona and made it the entry card of their repertoire.
After Ciclista!, the trio released the singles Deutes and Pena. The three tracks have marked the start of a project that is now organized for the first time in a full-length format.
The album was recorded at Casa Linda with members of Cala Vento
The new work was recorded at the Casa Linda studio, by Cala Vento. Aleix Turon, Jordi Mora and Joan Delgado participated in the production of the album.
In addition to the housing crisis, the eleven songs address labor exploitation, lack of respect for the elderly, and fast entertainment. The repertoire thus broadens the field of social observation with which the group had begun to make itself known.
On the technical side, Aleix Turon mixed the album except for two of the already released songs. Ciclista! and Pena were mixed by Jordi Mora.
The mastering of Perenne i per sempre was carried out by Víctor García.
