The former Golf Girona, in Sant Julià de Ramis, is once again at the center of the urban planning debate with the proposal to build a Health & Cycling Resort on the complex's grounds. The initiative foresees an investment of fifty million euros and is now in the phase of attracting investors and operators.

The macro-project is planned on a total surface area of 708,000 square meters. Of this area, 480,000 square meters correspond to the golf course, while the tourist equipment would occupy 58,409 square meters, with 22,000 square meters buildable. To this are added 22,500 square meters designated for sports facilities.

A hotel and more than thirty bungalows

The design foresees the construction of a hotel with a hundred rooms and more than thirty bungalows, in a complex oriented towards health and cycling. Participating in the initiative are Alonso Designs, led by architect Ignacio Alonso, together with The Energy Lab and Encajes.net.

The project, however, is not yet in a closed phase. The mayor of Sant Julià de Ramis, Marc Sayols, explains that in recent months there have been contacts with possible interested parties to take over the old Golf Girona.

"We have spoken with more than one interested party and more than one developer" - Marc Sayols, mayor of Sant Julià de Ramis

The mayor himself specifies that in the last half year a slight upward interest has been detected, although he remarks that he is not aware that there is for now any very advanced or firm operation.

The auction remained deserted

The context of the operation remains marked by the economic situation of the complex. The public auction promoted by the Xaloc service of the Diputació de Girona, with a minimum bid of 508.938,55 euros, went deserted, without any buyers coming forward.

Added to this circumstance is the accumulated debt with the City Council of Sant Julià de Ramis, which is around 270,000 euros for IBI concepts, garbage collection fees and administrative costs.

For now, the future of the old Golf Girona remains pending for investor interest to materialize in a proposal that aims to transform the area into a large tourist and sports complex, although without there being yet a closed operation for the purchase of the land.
