The Girona City Council has warned of a possible scam attempt in which the perpetrators pose as personnel from a municipal survey on cleaning and waste services. The alert was disseminated through municipal social networks after detecting calls in which neighbors' contact details were requested.

The maneuver begins with a supposed consultation about a public service, but leads to the announcement of a false prize and requests for personal information and even access to the home. The contradiction, according to the council, is that a communication presented as a municipal survey ends with demands unrelated to any ordinary city council procedure.

The perpetrators offer a false trip and ask to enter homes

During the call, the scammers inform participants that they have won a supposed trip. From there, they ask for more personal information and request visits to their homes.

The municipal alert focuses on this chain of steps, as it combines obtaining contact details with the promise of a prize and a subsequent physical approach to the home. The council does not link the case to an official campaign or a valid municipal procedure.

The city council asks not to give data or open the door to strangers

In its public message, the Girona City Council calls for caution in any contact of this type. The recommendation includes distrusting unexpected calls, prizes, or visits related to this supposed survey.

"Extreme prudence must be exercised with unexpected calls, prizes, or visits, and personal data should not be provided nor access to the home allowed to unknown persons" - Girona City Council, Girona council

In addition, the council recommends cutting off such interactions when doubts arise about the identity of the caller or those who intend to visit the home. The municipal indication is to verify any communication through official channels before providing information.

If in doubt, the Girona City Council recommends contacting the security forces directly.
