The Tarlà of Girona needs urgent repair after a loose screw in its left foot has dislodged the piece, although the figure has not fallen. The intervention will take place on carrer de l'Argenteria when the flow of people decreases, presumably during the afternoon or evening.
The incident affects a figure that was renovated this year, with an aluminum structure and in operation since April 18 for the Festes de la Primavera. Despite the change, the political debate has revolved around the faults detected during a few days when the Tarlà was supposed to be one of the most visible elements of the city's festive and tourist calendar.
Ferran Rafa said that the Tarlà did not turn at some points during the festivities
The issue reached the municipal plenary on Monday, where Ferran Rafa, councilor of the PSC, stated that the figure could not turn at some points during the festivities. The councilor called for more foresight and also for prior technical tests for future editions.
Rafa linked his criticism to the interruptions recorded during the celebrations in which the Tarlà was already supposed to be operational. The figure began to turn on April 18 and will continue to operate until Sunday for Temps de Flors.
Quim Ayats defended that this year's change is not due to a lack of foresight
On behalf of the municipal government, Quim Ayats, deputy mayor and councilor for Culture, maintained that the Tarlà has undergone a "brutal change" this year. He also downplayed the hours the figure was stopped.

Ayats added that the municipal executive's intention is to further enhance the figure in the future. In the meantime, immediate action will focus on repositioning the affected piece on the left foot without interrupting traffic in one of the busiest spots in the Barri Vell.
The figure installed on carrer de l'Argenteria will continue to operate until Sunday for Temps de Flors after having started turning on April 18 for the Festes de la Primavera.
