The Mossos d'Esquadra arrested a 43-year-old man in Cadaqués as the alleged perpetrator of a sexual assault on a woman that occurred in the early morning hours in the vicinity of Sa Jorneta street. The victim reported that the suspect touched her and masturbated in front of her as she was leaving a venue.
The arrest came two days after the incident, but the detainee was released with charges the day after appearing before the judicial authorities. The man has more than fifteen prior police records and is under investigation for a crime of sexual assault without penetration.
The assault occurred at 3:30 AM near Sa Jorneta street
The events took place on May 13 around 3:30 in the morning. The woman was leaving a venue in Cadaqués when, according to the report filed with the Mossos d'Esquadra, the man approached her on the street.
He then allegedly touched her and masturbated in front of her. The victim managed to escape and went to the Catalan police to report what had happened.
Two days later, officers located and arrested the suspect. The police operation concluded with the arrest of the individual under investigation for sexual assault without penetration.
The Cadaqués Town Hall and local entities condemned the case
After the incident became known, the Cadaqués Town Hall issued an institutional statement along with several local entities and associations. The text expresses the "absolute condemnation" of what it defines as a "presumed attempted sexual assault."
