The Mossos d'Esquadra arrested this Thursday in Girona the alleged perpetrator of a sexual assault reported by a homeless woman. The arrest was made shortly before 2:00 p.m. in the city, after the victim filed the complaint in the morning with the Catalan police.
The detainee is 28 years old and had no police record. The agents identified him based on the woman's statement and the first investigative steps carried out after becoming aware of the facts. The Mossos accuse him of an alleged sexual assault.
A complaint for some events that occurred on Tuesday
The reported facts date back to Tuesday afternoon/evening, on the street. The woman explained that a man followed her after leaving La Sopa. According to her account, the suspect lives in this resource and she goes there to eat.
In the complaint, the victim stated that the man approached her in public with the intention of having sexual relations while kissing her neck. The woman refused and left, but stated that he continued following her with the intention of forcing her to perform oral sex and masturbate him.
The victim managed to escape and ask for help with the intervention of a tourist. That person accompanied her to municipal facilities located in the building of the old UNED.
Social care and injury report
The next day, the woman went to a medical center, where they made her a report of injuries. That report was subsequently provided in the complaint filed with the Mossos, an element that was incorporated into the open proceedings.
The City Council of Girona reported that the victim was attended by the social workers from the former UNED and La Sopa. Those professionals recommended her to report the facts and also offered her the attention of the SIAD.
The investigation allowed to locate and detain the suspect in a few hours since the filing of the complaint. The case now follows its police and judicial course, with the arrested person under investigation for an alleged sexual assault.
