A woman has died and a man was injured less seriously after a fire broke out in a home on carrer Major de Sant Pau de Segúries. The incident took place during the night and activated a large emergency response in Ripollès. The Bombers confirmed the alert upon arriving at the scene and found the victim lifeless in the kitchen.
Notices and media mobilization
The Firefighters received the alert at 01:13 AM. The notice indicated a fire in a dwelling with the presence of a lot of smoke inside. Upon accessing the ground floor, the crews detected that the flames mainly affected the kitchen area. To tackle the incident, three units were deployed, consisting of two water trucks and a ladder truck.
Rescue and healthcare
Amidst the flames and smoke, firefighters located the lifeless body of the woman inside the kitchen. The man, who also suffered consequences from exposure to the fire, managed to be rescued and transferred with less serious injuries to the Hospital d'Olot. The Medical Emergency Service coordinated healthcare assistance, mobilizing three ambulances to cover the needs of the operation.
Police investigation and state of the dwelling
The Mossos d'Esquadra, through their investigation unit, have taken charge of the corresponding proceedings to determine the origin of the incident. The first findings point to material damage limited to the extractor hood and various kitchen utensils. After managing to extinguish the flames, the Bombers personnel proceeded to carry out ventilation tasks in the house, which was impregnated with smoke.
