A man of 47 years old and Spanish nationality has died this Monday in Ribes de Freser upon a tree falling on him during some logging work in a forest plot of the Ribes Altes nucleus. The accident occurred around 11:00 hours on a forest property of his ownership.
The victim was on the land while cleaning work was being carried out after the damage caused by the storms of February and March. The owner had hired a deforestation company to act in the affected area.

The tree fell on the man while its felling was being carried out. To the scene, three units of Bombers de la Generalitat and a helicopter with medical personnel from the Sistema d Emergències Mèdiques were dispatched. Despite the mobilization of emergency services, the death was certified shortly before noon.
The incident occurred in a forest environment that had been damaged by the storms recorded in recent months. In this area of Ripollès, the wind gusts and storms of February and March caused the fall and breakage of trees over an area of more than 36 hectares.
