A man of about 40 years of age was stabbed on Sunday around one in the afternoon during a fight on Sant Domènec street in Sant Feliu de Guíxols. The Mossos d'Esquadra, the Local Police, and the SEM attended to the victim at the scene and evacuated him to the Josep Trueta hospital in Girona.
The assault caused him injuries that at first seemed serious, but the injured man was discharged on Sunday afternoon as his life was not in danger. Hours later, in the early morning, the Local Police located and arrested the alleged perpetrator when he was in a public place consuming alcohol.
The officers arrested the suspect twelve hours later in Sant Ramon
The arrest took place around 00:30 on Monday at the intersection of Àngel Guimerà street and Sant Ramon. The detainee is a 20-year-old young man with no prior record, to whom the officers provisionally attribute a crime of assault.
Before the arrest, the Mossos d'Esquadra had managed to identify him based on the testimonies collected and the investigations opened after the fight. During the investigation, moreover, the officers recovered the knife used in the assault in the same area of the events.
The injured man left the Trueta on Sunday after being admitted for a thigh injury
The victim presented a stab wound to the thigh when the emergency services arrived at Sant Domènec street. The SEM transferred him to the Josep Trueta hospital in Girona, where he was admitted and was out of danger a few hours later.
Sources from the health center confirmed that the man was discharged on Sunday afternoon. That outcome reduced the initial seriousness of an incident whose motives have not yet been revealed.
For now, the Mossos d'Esquadra are keeping the clarification of the fight between the two men open, although they have specified that the detainee remains at the local police station awaiting judicial proceedings.
