The solidarity race and walk of the 70th anniversary of Trueta Hospital gathered this Sunday 943 registered participants in Girona, in a day that brought together more than a thousand people between participants and companions. The start and finish were located in front of the hospital, on Avinguda de França, in an event with which the center wanted to open to the public the commemoration of its seven decades of history.
The event was organized with two routes, of 10 and 5 kilometers, designed for both runners and walkers. The route passed through the Sant Ponç greenway, the les Ribes del Ter park, the Fontajau footbridge, la Devesa, the Copa area, the Pedret bridge and several river sections of the Ter and the Onyar.
The start of the 10-kilometer race took place at 10:00 hours, while the 5-kilometer race started five minutes later. Before the start, the main access square of Trueta hosted music by DJ Momo and the batucada of the Diables de l"Onyar.

Funds for assistance projects
The funds raised will be allocated to assistance projects linked to person-centered care. The center's manager also highlighted that the objective of the day was to open the celebration of the 70th anniversary to the public.
At the finish line, a refreshment point with fruit and water was set up. During the morning, physiotherapy sessions were also offered by students from the Escola Universitària de la Salut i l"Esport.
Classifications of the 10-kilometer test
The awards for the 10-kilometer race were presented around 11:45 AM. Pol Peña was the first classified in the men's category with a time of 36 minutes and 27 seconds. Guille Cortijo and Marco Fernández completed the men's podium.
Alba López won the women's 10-kilometer category with a time of 43 minutes and 56 seconds. Natàlia Ramon and Berta Oliveras occupied the other two positions on the women's podium.
Upcoming events of the anniversary
The race is part of the program of events for Trueta's 70th anniversary, scheduled throughout 2026. The next highlighted event will be on April 13 at the Auditori Palau de Congressos in Girona, coinciding with the official inauguration date of the hospital in 1956.
In that act, the retired surgeon and former medical director Josep Roig will review seven decades of the center's history. The hospital also plans an open day on October 24, coinciding with the Fires de Sant Narcís.
